No.. I don’t think they would make very good politicians and they would be the first to tell you that. But we do need them around to convince more folks that it’s better to make informed decisions. I like their excitement about the knowledge - one thing that Sagan was not as good at communicating.

Do they really try to disprove gods? Given the lack of falsification methods it’s impossible to achieve such a goal, and I’m sure they know it. The only thing you can do is disprove certain religious claims, like the world being only a few thousand years old.

I haven’t seen that specific debate, but I have seen others. When the scientific debater knows what he’s doing he’ll restrict himself to science. You can’t (dis)prove the existence of a god with science, you can however scientifically disprove many claims made by creationism/creationists.

He talked about his reasons, several times. Creationism is not only silly, but also dangerous. I would not waste time with creationist tools, the fact that Bill does it, shows that he cares more about the intellectual uplifting of the nation, than he cares about his own time and his own person. That’s what I want in a politician.

America, Canada here. We want you to know will will always love and support you no matter what. We’re family. Families stick together, even when a loved one starts acting all nutsy-fruitsy because well, crack. Unlike family though, you can’t just offer America a choice of the back seat or the trunk to get the dry-out started. (I’m a terrible interventionist, but I tried).

If this keeps up know we’ll always love you, but you can’t crash on our couch anymore.
